The Center provides, both for internal and external clients, geotechnical investigation and underground construction services. The core service areas of the unit include;

• Geological and geomorphological mapping;
• Geophysical surveying and seismic hazard potential assessment;
• Subsurface geotechnical investigation;
• Geotechnical engineering solutions;
• Underground works design and supervision; and
• Research and development in the areas of geotechnical investigation, geotechnical engineering and underground works.
